Great tool for the price
Well this is the first drill press I have owned, and I would have liked to have gotten a grizzly with it's 12 speeds. 5 speeds are ok, but 500rpm is sometimes a little fast for my big metal drills and bi-metal hole saws. As far as packaging, it was a little rough. I bought mine refurbed and could not pass up the price of $140 bucks shipped. (much cheaper than the grizzly) My switch housing was broken, but was not falling out and still worked, who cares no biggie for me. No runout issues (checked it with my dial guage) with the chuck. Swapping the belt to a different speed is stupid easy and fast. It takes me less than 30 seconds. The tray is neat, but for me gets in the way so I just took it off. Take the time to adjust the lazer properly. It can be completely accurate from the top to the bottom if you take 5-10 minutes to get it right. I found that when I tightened the caps covering the lazers, they moved slightly, so I went back and fourth between the two screws to keep the lazer centered on the provided alignment dowel.

I do allot of metal work and use it with my tubing notcher. I found my notcher would fit with the base all the way down and my setup will bolt to the hole in the middle of the table. Getting it all lined up so it did not bind throughout the movement took a while. Drilling holes is allot easier and more accurate and has fufilled all of my expectations. Has plenty of power for what I do and has not flinched at anything yet.

I gave it 5 stars for what it offers in it's class of drill presses and it's purpose. It is not a floor standing model and it dosent have 18 speeds so dont expect it to perform like a $500 drill press. But for the $140 I paid for it self, small size, ease of use, and low maintenance you cant beat it. I would even pay the going rate for a new one on here.

Oh and I also got a 6" delta drill press vice for it and no it does not bolt on, but I drilled and tapped the base for it so I can easily adjust it and move it around to fit what ever piece of work I trying to drill. Get a vice, it makes using the drill much safer and easier. If you dont want to drill, maybe the 4" will be just your size and will probably bolt on with no modifications.

For the money and for home use - fine
I kept telling myself I needed a big floor mount drill press. Why? Heck if I know, they just look cool. However, for my small home shop, this has proven to be more than enough. I built a mobile cart for it and with mobility (or a good permanent place to use it) this drill press will do just about anything I need. As for the laser, I haven't even bothered with it. The table height adjustment could be smoother, but it works. Changing belt speeds is a bit of a pain as well as the chuck, but we are talking about a tool under $200. There are bench tops that cost 50-100% more and would be great tools and/or there is old iron out there that can be nice machines, but for the inexpensive drill press, I think this is about the best you can do in a 12" or under. Still, I wonder how one of the bench top Grizzly's between 200 and 300 would have stacked against this?

A mid-grade drill press you'll likely be happy with
I've been using drill presses of various type for years but never one "laser guided" - I thought that was just for missles! After aiming the thing twice and giving more thought to the "why" I was more concerned with getting the beams parallel and then later adjusting where they crossed and I am now satified they work consistently. I would prefer the lasers were powered off the cord and came on with the switch than being separately battery powered so I wouldn't have to rely on memory to turn it off or a drawer full of batteries. The light is far too limp to stay aimed and I didn't mount the accessory table. The only problem I had with assembly and setup was being foolish enough to pick it up and put it on the workbench by myself, but a few more days of pain pills will fix that.

As for use, the drill has very little runout, is smooth, reliable, consistent and easy to use. I change speeds fairly often and don't mind moving the belt but keep a small bar beside to help with tighting the tension. The only real negative I have found is with the stop. Frankly, it binds and is just difficult to use. I even took it apart thinking there was a metal shaving inside making it bind. Nope, just a bad design.

Would I buy it again? Sure the little things are not much of an annoyance. Could it be better? Sure, but then again for the price it is a great value. Not quite a "5" but a solid "4".

Great drill, but needs better packing for shipping
I received this unit with the box partially open and the bands on one side of the box. The movable workplate was 1/2 out of the box. The shipper, FedEx had added some tape to the box to keep it together. I added more tape before I took it home from work where I had it delivered.
Once I looked in the box, everything looked complete and fine and it wasn't until I lifted the power head out of the box to install when I noticed a crack up the entire corner of the plastic pulley cover. Since it doesn't show or affect the operation of the drill. I just ignored the crack. The packing is meant for delivery of multiple units via pallet and is certainly not strong enough for shipping individually. All Amazon needed to do was add another box around the outside to have kept this together and not twisted in shipment and cracking the cover. There were no dents in the outside of the box or signs that this was mishandled.

otherwise the drill works perfectly. The laser has to be readjusted with each table height adjustment but that only takes a minute.
The operation is moooth and quiet and it is very accurate. Easy to clamp objects to the table for stability.
For the price, you can't beat this unit for quality in build and features. I expect this to last forever.
