Fuji Q4 HVLP Sprayer I received my Q4 neatly packed and exactly as the manufacturers described. I have used standard air spraying equipment before and I think I will never use it again. The Q4 was about the easiest to use high end piece of equipment I ever bought. Even the quide for obtaining proper viscosity was on the money. The spray pattern variations were perfect and the ability to adjust the volumn of paint prevented runs--all in all this thing works great. My first use was spraying a set of cabinets I built and I used latex with the #4 needle--that worked good. The only negative is for the price I think fuji should supply all the nozzles.
Top of the line HVLP I have big plans for this unit, mostly in the furniture finishing projects. So far, I have only shot oil based stains, polys and a mixture of the two. The system is outstanding and proved so superior to my high pressure sprayers. You have total control with the spray pattern, the amount of material applied, and the atomization air pressure. The noise is about the same as my indoor canister vac and much quiter than my wet/dry vac.
The description neglected to say that you need two critical accessories. Get the #3 AirCap or you will spray too much oil based material. You must also get the whip hose if you want to apply a smooth pattern. I also purchased the 3 cup mini set and use this most often. The small size cups are quite adequate for most of my spraying needs.
I also have a HVLP conversion gun that uses a high pressure compressor but performs somewhat like an HVLP system. At 1/20 of the price of this system (if you have the compressor), it is very usable competitor for oil based materials. I have not compared the two systems with water based products.
Great product Just recently heard of HVLP Fuji came highly recommended by my paint supplier.Have used it for cabinets and furniture. For anyone interested buy this gun with the gravity feed gun.And also try Fuhr precat waterbourne lacquer the two of them together are priceless
Great first HVLP unit I have owned this unit for over a year now and love it. I wanted a convenient and portable spray system to use in my garage and as well in customers homes. There was a learning period going from compressed air we use at my work to this system but through trial and error (and learning to spray light build coats) I feel I get just as good a finish as the shop. I purchased the smaller needle and cap set and use that to shade with and to spray water based lacquer. The industrial garden hose takes getting used to but I bought the 6' whip hose and find it to be very handy. This is an excellent HVLP system, the gun is very easy to clean and only had to change my gaskets and bleeder hose once. I would recommend getting as much information on the particular product you will be spraying either by website of web forums, and perform sample tests with every new product.
