If I have to be on a ladder, this is the one I want.
I weigh 450 pounds. I was never meant to be on a ladder, period. So why I decided to paint my own house is beyond me (I blame it on my wife). Originally I was going to have help with the high parts, like the gable ends at 25' up but at the very last minute my help bailed on me, but only after I bought the paint sprayer and the pressure washer. I was beyond the point of no return. A year back my father in law had bought this ladder, but decided it was too heavy, and let me have it. I read up on it and discovered it is rated for 300 pounds, and that it has withstood tests up to 1200 pounds. I decided to go for it. As a big guy, I inherently hate heights and especially ladders, but I climbed this fully extended nightmare one rung at a time and gradually made my way up. It got a bit bouncy in the middle, a little creaky 3/4 of the way up, but it held. I made it. Over the next week I would make that climb over and over as I trimmed the fascia, or installed shutters, or sprayed the gables. I also found myself using the ladder over the front porch, or along the eves, or even straddling a fence (no cross bar is kind of nice sometimes) to get just the right angle to paint the downspout. I survived, and I'm pretty amazed at this thing. It's one of those things that just plain works, and I appreciated that a lot. It folds down to almost nothing, so it's easy to store and move. I really can't complain seeing as how I'm alive still and everything, but I will say that the rungs are a little narrow and tend to hurt your feet after a while. I guess this is why other reviewers have said the work platform is a must, but I wasn't about to push my luck with that.
I can say this is the ladder for 450 pound guys who hate ladders. If it held me, you've got nothing to worry about.

24 year old Little Giant 22 ft ladder
My wife and I were at a home show in 1984, where a Little Giant ladder was being demo'd and sold. I was impressed that 4 of us large men could (and did) stand on the ladder at once. But I felt it was too much money for a ladder. However, my wife insisted that one fall from a ladder would cost us much more than the price of the Little Giant 22 ft ladder. So we bought it, and have been using it for 24 years. It's just wonderful. It's so safe that I was able to relax and work comfortably up there. Now that I'm over 65 and physically wrecked, the ladder is too heavy for me, and I don't climb it anymore. But my wife still uses it, as do the people who work on our properties. This ladder is one of those pieces of equipment that seems expensive, but turns out to be a bargain in the long run. If you find it too heavy, don't buy one. Otherwise, don't wait. If it won't fit in your car, get a shorter version. You will probably enjoy many years of using a safe and comfortable ladder.

too heavy
bought mine 22' at expo, came with free shipping and few accessories. Arrived today and gave me quite a work out just to pull it out of the box. It is HEAVY and difficult to move around. Immediately, I suspect I will use it alot, this is one of those got to have it items, made in USA and with LIFETIME warranty, excessively well built and exceeding all practicalities. It's HEAVY an bulky, not a first choice for household chore.

Expensive for no reason!
This ladder is expensive because of the commercial hype.
There are other multipurpose ladders in this site (i.e Louisville, others)that are less expensive and have same brand recognition and features than Little Giant.
